Even if it works now it's still a good example because it's what, 9 years late? They bet the house on being first to replace taxi drivers and given the potential income, you can see why. Whoever can first offer driverless taxis is going to make a decent profit. At this point I doubt Tesla will be first although given the unique circumstances in individual countries across the globe it's quite possible that it'll be 'local' companies that are first in their area. Tesla self driving performs terribly in China, iirc, whereas BYD works as well as your Tesla does in the (I assume) USA.
