It primarily measures the percent of workers making less than $26K a year in 2025 dollars (including part-time workers) and is near an all-time historic low. The labor force participation rate needs to be controlled for age. Nobody is disregarding the officially published unemployment numbers. They're saying that those numbers are no longer as useful as they used to be.
