J F C Lost my job last March and rolled my 401k into an IRA so I could trade with it. I was up $60k in 6 months and it was glorious. Then Octobear came around and said go fuck yourself and I'm down $55k in 4 weeks. I even went all cash ahead of September because "I'm smart" (not) but by the end of September I was back in. I was back to 70% cash before today but 100% cash now. It's hookers and blow from here on out. Better ROI.

Stealing other people's work in that company is so common, that it's almost respected as a sign of skill. You don't collaborate with anyone in there. If you're forced to, you have to be snaky about it. CC'ing your boss on email replies, cutting the other guy off in meetings, etc. You sort of have to fuck him over before he fucks you over. Or even better yet, if you have to collaborate, you can drag a third person onto it and make it *their* new problem, while you chill and trade stocks. It's just a dog eat dog, every man for himself company, from the foot soldiers on their laptops all the way up to the C suite. There was a case this month where a vice president of R&D took the plane for a new chip design home with him, had his sister create a fake startup, then sold Qualcomm's IP back to them for $100M. The company is literally rotten at every level.
