$10 for a bowl of rice and beans?
Yeah the only Chipotle in my area is like 6 blocks from a Mexican store that has a deli with full kitchen that makes the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. Full plate of pork en salsa verde with beans, rice, and tortillas is less than a Chipotle burrito bowl...$2.52 less last time I checked. I would happily pay more than Chipotle for it, but somehow it's less...fuck Chipotle.
> they're serving bowls of fucking rice and beans Growing being PR/Mexican, eating rice and beans daily and being made fun of, I find it ironic that this is being exalted as good eating. Hell, our dogs even ate rice and beans--seriously! My grandma would cook up big pots on Sunday to feed the dogs all week and mix in table scraps or chicken gizzards.
I just added a chicken bowl with rice (extra), beans, sour cream, cheese, guac and chips on the side and its $13.40.
Chipotle is on my regular lunch rotation. Honestly, it's one of the better options for about $12. Very easy to go light or heavy as well on the custom bowls/burrito. If I'm trying to cut some weight, just leave out the rice and beans.
Chipotle was always expensive. It was $16 for some rice and 4 pieces of chicken
They've managed to price themselves out of the market. Beans, rice and tortillas are not expensive.
Pisses me off they and the other mexican chain want to charge extra for more rice & beans. Bro, it's the cheapest damn thing you could supply.
Every time Chipotle comes up I feel like I'm crazy. It's ~$12 for a chicken bowl, all fresh and pretty healthy if you don't cover it in sour cream and cheese. Good macros, tons of protein. I'm stuffed after and find it satisfying and filling. The portions are plenty large for a single meal, you really don't need more than that, in fact I often ask for only one scoop of rice. Do we judge other restaurants on if we can get two meals out of a single order? I'm in a HCOL area and it is definitely one of the most affordable chains. It sucks but you just can't find a meal for under $10 these days. I really don't understand the hate they get. PS my order is brown rice, black beans, chicken, fajita veg, green salsa, corn, and a little bit of sour cream :)
Fast food comes nowhere close to rice, beans, pasta, rotisserie chicken, peanut butter or any cooking oil for calories/dollar.
