Shares of Uber (UBER) are trading 5% higher at a price of $22.79 at the time of this writing. While there was no obvious catalyst via the news, the price actions suggests it's just the stock rebounding from lows.
Uber has been trading between a 52-week high of $48.88 and a 52-week low of $19.9. The stock has a market cap of $42.4 Billion.
Uber's mission is to create opportunity through movement. The company started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 15 billion trips later, Uber is building products to get people closer to where they want to be.
As you can imagine, the internet had a few things to say about the price move. Here's a few choice comments from the Reddit Traderverse™:VMoney9 - 8 upvotes -
sourceGave my Uber driver to the airport in Mexico 2000 pesos as a tip on a 180 peso ride. I feel like a self righteous douche and it feels fucking amazing. I highly recommend doing the same. Be a fucking American and overtip when in developing nations.

sourceSo what about 402k’s? Tax the money before it goes into the account then tax it again when it comes out? You guys only look at this shot for the Uber rich, but you can’t make laws that say “everyone gets to live by this law until you make X dollars” Equal under the law. (I totally understand that this isn’t how it works because rich and/or famous and/or politicians don’t live by the same rules but that’s an entirely different debate)

sourceAirpods alone bring in more revenue then companies like Uber, Spotify, Adobe, Nvidia, Snapchat.. if they were their own company they’d still be a fortune 500 company. Just for their relatively new headphones. They dominate luxury phone / computer sales, both PC and Laptop, and they have $200billion cash sitting in the bank. I’m sure this will end well

sourceTrue, but not every business sells below costs in the hope of getting the monopoly rent later. Used to be airlines only but with the cheap money it spilled into many retail markets (B2B less so, if I am not mistaken): Uber, Tesla, etc

sourceUber is an illegal taxi operation that takes advantage of desperate people. I don’t have an Uber account. When I travel I use a taxi.
